Privacy Policy

LoopMap is a personal location-history service. Your movement data is used to provide the product to you—not to build advertising profiles or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Effective September 15, 2026

Information we collect

When you use LoopMap, we may collect:

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, authentication provider, and internal user identifier.
  • Precise location and trip information, including coordinates, timestamps, altitude, speed, course, GPS accuracy, derived routes, trip distance, and duration.
  • Motion context, such as whether the device reports walking, automotive movement, or stationary activity. This helps start, stop, and classify trips.
  • Device and operational information, including an app-generated device identifier, synchronization state, and limited server logs needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, detect and record trips, synchronize offline samples, filter GPS noise, display your movement history, troubleshoot failures, protect the service, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal information, serve targeted advertising, or use your information to track you across third-party apps or websites.

Background location

With your permission, LoopMap accesses location in the background so it can detect and record a complete trip while your iPhone is locked or another app is open. You can change location access at any time in iOS Settings. Disabling Always Location Access may prevent automatic trip detection from working reliably.

Local storage and synchronization

Location samples may first be stored locally on your iPhone, including while you are offline. They are sent to LoopMap when a connection is available. Successfully synchronized queue items are removed from local app storage. Some preferences and temporary state may remain on the device until you sign out, delete your account, or remove the app.

Service providers

LoopMap uses Apple and Google sign-in services for authentication and Google Cloud and Firebase services for hosting, identity, storage, processing, and security. These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. Core application infrastructure is currently hosted in the European Union.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and trip information while your account remains active and as needed to provide the service, resolve security issues, or meet legal obligations. You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Delete Account and Data in the LoopMap app. This removes your LoopMap account, trips, raw location samples, and associated server-side records. Deletion cannot be undone. Limited security or infrastructure logs may remain temporarily in provider backups or log-retention systems.

Security

We use access controls, authenticated requests, and encryption in transit to protect data. No system can guarantee absolute security, so please protect your Apple or Google account and device credentials.

Your choices and rights

You can control location and motion permissions in iOS Settings, sign out, or delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information. Contact us to exercise a right or ask a privacy question.

Children

LoopMap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as LoopMap evolves. We will update the effective date on this page and provide additional notice when a change is material.
